  • Webnovel Series (Ongoing)

A slow(ish) burn romance with characters taking breaks from extravagant magical violence to discuss boundaries, unhealthy dynamics of power & control, and argue the ethics of culling trolls in a complex monster ecosystem. Add in dick jokes, found family, and every comeback I've ever thought of an hour after the argument, and you have Alias and Apocalypses, first book in the Passions of the Middle End series.

It is hard to change the world while keeping who/what you are a secret.

Shilloh just wants to save enough money to make a safe place for her people, while Wade can only sleep if he knows he's saving the most lives per minute spent. But when money and safety are both on the line, they each end up needing to find out what exactly it is about the other one that doesn't add up. Unfortunately, given the world they survive in, it can be hard to tell the difference between secrets and SECRETS.

Every few decades, a new aspect of magic is released onto Earth in a staggered stop-and-go apocalypse. You never know when you'll wake up with memories of your counterpart in another world (the one forcibly overwriting itself onto Earth to avoid their End of Days), new magical abilities, new monsters to plan your civic infrastructure around, or the kind of secret that forces you to relocate under a false identity [cough cough].

This is the first book in a series of ongoing birthday gifts for my partner. All together it will form The Passions of the Middle End Series, which blends some of her favorite romantasy books like K. F. Breene's Demigods of San Francisco and Suzanne Wright's books plus some of my own favorites (AKA almost everything written by Ilona Andrews and Alexander Wales.)

It marries my love of overthinking magic and all the pieces of her favorite comfort reads. Though, if we pull this off, those will become her former favorite comfort reads.

Really though, what I'm saying is: be cool. Also, go to the story link and mention really loudly how smart, pretty, well-manicured, and good at spreadsheets I (the author) am in case she ever checks the comments.

Advanced chapters on Patreon and free chapters (soon to be released) on Royal Road and ScribleHub.

  • Serialized Web Fiction (Unpublished, needs rewriting and on pause )

A workplace drama about a mercenary band of professional fantasy heroes, the requisite insanity that job entails, and the slowly growing group of retired friends who they refuse to leave behind.

[Title Redacted] is a split between standard action-hero, power-focused progression fantasy, and cozy/slice of life fantasy.

Summoning can go both ways. [Title Redacted] begins several years after a group of strangers falls victim to a hostile summoning. After almost half a decade of magic and mayhem Red Dawn-ing behind enemy lines in (a nominal) hell, they have finally made it back home. Now, they need to decide what they want to do—and who they are—when next week's survival isn't their sole focus.

Some people will want to develop their magic until they can punch (a nominal) god. Others will build a business, struggle with first-date small talk, and wrestle with the guilt of opting to stay behind while all their most important friends are deploying into imminent danger.

Still, brotherhood does not end when jobs change. Which isn’t always a positive. Especially when you’ve retired from adventuring to do accounting but still have a toddler who lisps to his teachers about the ‘sentry exsanguination’ game because the only babysitter free on a Wednesday was Uncle ‘Silent Incarnation of Death’ Theo.

Between missions everyone will gather in a (nominally) retired war-mage built inn that always has fresh bread, dangerous regulars, and no one left behind.

The story should have a balance of battles, cleverly exploiting magic, organization building, and cozy moments similar to Mark of The Fool. You'll also see influences from This Used to be About Dungeons, Super Supportive, andTree of Aeons.

There is action, cause, you know, magic axes are cool. BUT it is just as fascinating to see the struggle of action heros after their torturous training montage going on blind dates, being bad at helping with gardening, and trying to figure out how in the hell you can ethically give scalable performance bonuses to mercenaries. It can’t be by kill count, cause obviously no, but also client satisfaction surveys seem a little subjective and easy to tamper with.

Not yet available to read (sorry).
